Hollywood, Baby

On Thursday, we flew into L.A. for our 8 day vacation in Hollywood and Lompoc, CA.  The trip didn't start out so good ~ the airline check-in was flawed and the ladies at the counter were rude... they miss-marked one of our suitcases but assured us it was fixed and everything would be okay... but when we got to LAX we found out the airline lost a piece of our luggage (the suitcase with all of Ben and Cailey's clothes ~ ugh!)... it took a trip to Chicago.  Then, the car Amy arranged for us didn't show up so we had to take a taxi from LAX to the hotel in Hollywood ($50 later!).  Ben started screaming in the taxi for the last 10 minutes of the ride because he was so tired and the poor taxi driver was ready to push us out the door :o)  We went to check into the hotel and found out they cancelled our reservation because we hadn't checked in by 6:00p.  It was okay ~ they still had enough rooms and we checked in without any more hassle.  We are staying at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel at Hollywood Blvd. and Highland.  It's a very nice hotel but doesn't seem to offer the amenities we would have expected for a pricey hotel ~ apparently that is par for Hollywood.  We decided to let off some steam last night by walking around the Hollywood and Highland mall.  We had a rough start, but hopefully that is behind us.

This afternoon we waited for our luggage and waited for Anna, Jackson, and Grandma Kathryn to arrive.  We got a chance to walk around and see the Walk of Fame and the Chinese Theater. We also got to see the marquee of the El Capitan theater advertising the Enchanted movie! Everywhere we looked we saw billboards, marquees, and advertisements with Amy's face on them :o) It was a bit strange. We went swimming once Jackson and Anna arrived and then we met Eddie for dinner. We are turning in early because we are going to Amy's at 8:00a to start getting ready for our big premier day! Just a few pics:
