Today I harbored a fugitive.

Yes, I admit it. I took in a fugitive. This boy had escaped from his backyard and I couldn't resist his sweet face, or his wagging tail, or the way his ears perked up. I let him seek refuge in my house. But, alas, I was forced to turn him in to his human. His human came to retrieve him and he is back in secure custody.

The whole story: He showed up in front of my house just as I pulled into the garage. He happily ran over to me and I cautiously got a chance to look at his collar tags. His name is Smoke and he lives just around the corner. I was afraid he would head to the busy street and get hit by a car, so I walked him back to his house but nobody was home. I couldn't put him back in the yard because he had dug a hole under the fence. I called the phone number on his tag ~ no answer, so I left a message that I was holding the dog for them. I let Smoke come in the house and get a drink of water. He's a really sweet boy and kept me company for about 30 minutes. Luckily, we being kept in the backyard with a new puppy ~ but, according to the owner, the puppy didn't bother to escape. So, now they are both home and safe.

what a good heart you have! Everytime I try to grab a stray they run from me...I think dogs don't like me. Guess I will stick to Rocks.
