I like to cook but I don't enjoy any part of the planning...figuring out what to cook and grocery shopping ~ no, Terra, I am not going anywhere near your planning project.
What's worse, is I seem to be surrounded by great cooks. I wish I could pull leftover food odds and ends out of the pantry or refrigerator and on a whim throw a fabulous, delicious meal together ~ like it's magic or something.
I can't do that. I have to use a recipe. Even then, chances are it's going to go awry somewhere along the line and not turn out quite the way I intended. Over the years Darling Husband has smiled nicely and gulped down plenty horrible, horrible...really horrible experiments ~ it wasn't pretty...or tasty...I assure you. I have a few staple recipes that I know by heart and can make in a pinch ~ but those are usually recipes that have been passed down to me. I don't usually vary the recipe for fear of it going terribly wrong and poisoning my whole family.
I swear that my kids will eat anything that's made for them. Unless I make it. We eat out a lot.
But, alas, when we eat at home I am the one that does the cooking ~ our schedules just don't allow it to be any different.

The part that makes me go grrrr is that Darling Husband is a great cook! But you wouldn't know it. He doesn't cook but once...hhmmm...a year! I know this because I usually ask him to cook that one meal. He will argue that point, but I assure you it isn't much more than that. No, Sweetheart ~ frozen pizzas, hot dogs, corn dogs, and soup from a can do not count as cooking our family meal.
I finallybegged bribed asked Darling Husband to make me dinner the other night! He makes the most wonderful Lemon Herb Ravioli and it is one of my favorite meals!! I realize the picture doesn't do it justice, but this is my most favorite meal and I wish DH would make it more often. I admit, I know how to make it, but it seems to taste better when he does it :o)

Oh, Alicia I have the same problem with recipes! We tend to eat a lot of pasta and grilled meat around here. Plus I have 4 family members with extremely differnt picky habits and one of those four goes to bed without dinner more often than not. Not because she is in trouble but because I refuse to be a short order cook, two strikes and your out...it's a banana or nothing. She pickes nothing.
Now, if you could just get the lovely chef of yours to do the laundry you would be set.
Laundry is a whole 'nother post. I am really OCD about laundry and nobody, I mean NOBODY, touches the laundry but me :o) :o) DH does the dishes instead. I love that.
This looks really yummy..
